What "for as long as ClaimPixels is online" actually means
Everywhere we describe how long a block lasts, we use the same plain sentence: for as long as ClaimPixels is online. People sometimes ask why we do not just say forever. This post explains the sentence, what sits behind it, and what we are careful not to promise.
What a block is
The Terms describe a block as a display placement: your image and link at the position you chose. They also say what it is not.
- It is not ownership of the wall, of any pixel as property, of a domain name, or of any financial instrument or investment.
- It has no guaranteed resale or future value.
- Once it is live, its position and size do not change. We may change how the wall is drawn, as long as relative positions stay the same.
Why we do not say forever
Websites go offline. Companies change, domains lapse and hosting providers close. Anyone who writes forever on a web page is promising something they cannot control, and the buyer is the one who pays when it turns out not to be true.
So we promise only what we can keep: your block stays for as long as the site runs, and if we ever decide to shut it down, we give you notice first.
If we ever close
- Notice on the home pageAt least 90 days before the site goes offline.
- The wall keeps runningBlocks stay live during the notice period.
- Refunds follow the Refund PolicyA block removed through no fault of the buyer, which includes our decision to discontinue the Service, is covered there. Read it on the refunds page.
- The site goes offlineA shutdown on that notice is not a breach of the Terms.
What stays your responsibility
- Keep your link's destination lawful and consistent with what we approved. Replacing it with prohibited content after approval breaks the Terms.
- Each block includes one free change of image or link. Changes are reviewed like a new submission.
- Blocks cannot be resold or transferred without our written consent. If you need to move one to another company, write to us.
Why this is the honest version
It would be easy to put a bigger promise on the home page. We would rather give you a smaller one that holds, with the rest written down where you can read it: the Terms, the Refund Policy and the pricing page.
Questions people ask
Is a block an investment?
No. The Terms say a block is a display placement, not ownership of the wall or any pixel, and that it has no guaranteed resale or future value.
Can I sell my block to someone else?
Not without our written consent. If you need to transfer a block to another company, write to us and we will look at it.
Can I get my money back if I change my mind?
You are refunded in full if we reject the block or you cancel before it is approved. After it is live and was approved as submitted, changing your mind is not a reason for a refund. The Refund Policy lists every case.
